Bulletin: 2025 Ideal 18 Program Enrollment Update -- filling fast
As of April 25th, Nyack Boat Club's Ideal 18 Program is restricting the placement of new Ideal 18 fleet members for 2025, as we review and adjust our staffing and the capacity of our 2025 learn-to-sail sessions. For new sailors, we want to make sure we can offer you a robust and available learn-to-sail experience this season, and we're currently at capacity for beginners, but do have a waitlist. We do have a handful of openings for reasonably well-experienced sailors.
If you want to sail with us in 2025, take the following steps:
- Reach out to Ideal 18 admissions to learn if we're a good fit together for 2025.
- Note, applicants for general membership receive preferred placement on the waitlist.
- Even if we can't place you in the Ideal 18 program in 2025, don't despair! Become a seasonal member participating in our Sunset Sailing program and take some private lessons on an Ideal 18*, or find a crew position with a Club member (create an account and add your name to the Crew Finder). And you'll be well-positioned to join the Ideal 18 fleet in 2026.
* In 2025 and Ideal 18 Seasonal membership costs $2,200. Alternatively, join as a Sunset Sailing Seasonal member for $500 (8 Thursdays sailing on larger cruising boats), and spend $1,000 on ten 2-hour lessons (one-on-one with an instructor) in an Ideal 18. Note, private lessons are generally scheduled during the day (before 4 pm) on weekdays and depend on instructor availability.
